Spicy shrimp consome, use it as a base or as a hangover cure.
Consomé de Camarón
Ingredients
Method
- In a medium stock pot, sauté tomatoes, onion, garlic, and chiles in a neutral oil.
- Remove dried chiles as soon as they’ve picked up some color to avoid developing bitterness.
- Add in the shrimp shells and continue sauteing everything together for a few minutes.
- Add water along with previously sauteed dried chiles, half a bunch of cilantro, celery, dried shrimp, Knorr tomate, oregano, and garlic powder. Simmer for 20 mins.
- Transfer everything EXCEPT broth, shrimp shells, celery, and cilantro. Blend with a bit of broth until pureed.
- From your broth, discard all of the shrimp shells, celery and cilantro with a slotted spoon.
- Reintroduce the strained puree into the broth, simmer, and season to taste.
Notes
- If the shrimp has heads still on, add them to the shells.
- I like to eat it with some cooked shrimp, chopped cilantro, and lime. This would also be great as a base for siete mares soup.

The power of the algorithm showed me this beautiful hangover elixir. The content creator recommended using this as the base for 'Cup Noodles' but I highly suggest against it as it was way too salty.
